In July I rode four-fifths of the world-famous “Markleeville Death Ride.” The entire ride is 126 miles long, over five Sierra (California) mountain passes, and racks up over 16,000 feet of climbing. My personal ride, and my personal target for my first attempt, was to do the first four passes. This shorter version is only 85 miles and 12,000 feet of climbing. I completed the four pass version in just over 10 hours, including several lengthy rest stops!
On my flickr Sierra Cycling page are some pictures of me at the tops of the two mountains I climbed (Monitor Pass and Ebbetts Pass — both sides of each mountain equals four passes), as well as a few other shots of the beautiful scenery in the mountains.
